Gary Butler

Gary is an owner and managing director of IMS, a resident of the Cayman Islands and is a Solicitor of the High Court of England and Wales (non-practicing, but holding a current practicing certificate). Gary previously also practiced law in Scotland, Jersey and the Cayman Islands. Gary is a Professional Director in the Cayman Islands registered pursuant to the Directors Registration and Licensing Act. Gary serves as a director on a very small number of boards of alternative investment funds and special purpose vehicles. Prior to joining IMS he was Legal Manager for the Close Brothers offshore group of companies across their Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man offices, advising on corporate, trust & fiduciary, investment fund and other ad-hoc legal matters. Prior to that, he was a Senior Associate with a top tier offshore law firm, working in their Business and Trust Law Group out of their Jersey office and has also worked in the formation of investment funds for a Cayman Islands law firm. His expertise is in the fields of corporate and fiduciary law, with an emphasis on offshore structures. He is currently a member of the executive committee of the Cayman Islands Directors Association (CIDA).
