Data protection a priority in Cayman Islands national ID roll-out

As Innovation Minister André Ebanks gets set to pilot the legal framework for a national identification card and digital identity register, he stressed that data security and protection are of high importance.


Ebanks, speaking on The Resh Hour Wednesday night, said a lot of work and consultation has gone into the initiative and included are protections to safeguard the information that will be held in the database.


Deputy Chief Officer Charles Brown, who appeared on the show with Ebanks, explained that each individual ID card holder will have control over the information that is shared on the database as well as what is made accessible.
